Microneedling

Microneedling

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that involves the use of a device with tiny, fine needles to create small punctures or microchannels in the skin. Also known as collagen induction therapy, microneedling is designed to stimulate the skin's natural healing response and promote the production of collagen and elastin, which are essential for healthy skin.

During a microneedling session, a skincare professional will cleanse the skin and apply a numbing cream to minimize discomfort. Then, a handheld device containing fine needles is gently rolled or stamped over the skin, creating controlled micro-injuries. The depth of the needle penetration can vary depending on the specific treatment goals and areas being treated.

Microneedling can improve the appearance of various skin concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin texture, and enlarged pores. By creating microscopic channels in the skin, microneedling encourages the production of collagen and elastin, leading to improved skin texture, firmness, and overall rejuvenation.

After the procedure, the skin may appear slightly red or irritated, similar to a mild sunburn, which typically subsides within a few hours to a couple of days. Some individuals may experience mild peeling or flaking. The full results of microneedling may take several weeks to months to become noticeable as the skin's natural healing and remodeling process takes time. Multiple treatment sessions, usually spaced several weeks apart, are often recommended for optimal results.

Skincare professionals typically provide instructions for post-treatment care, which may include avoiding direct sun exposure, using gentle skincare products, and applying moisturizers or serums to support the healing process. It's important to follow these instructions to ensure proper healing and reduce the risk of complications.
